Every business wants to get the most from its people. It can be difficult when policies, systems and processes are in need of an update. And, at the same time, having to adhere to said policies and processes.
No wonder you have engagement issues.
Here are three strategies I’ve implemented with great success in every team I’ve managed.
(I’ve included a simple template for Strategy 3)
Strategy 1: Loose — Tight
This strategy is based on having clear boundaries for the way work is produced.
The guidelines are the not negotiable standards encompassing compliance, behavioural professionalism, and adhering to organisational values.
Set them up immediately you take on a team, or as soon as you can, if you are managing a team and looking to improve performance.
The team should be involved in developing them, as the technical aspects will be driven by legal and compliance requirements based on the business and its industry. The team is invested in the day-to-day operations.
