The following steps on how to destroy a high performing team are a tongue-in-cheek look at what can happen in the workplace.
The irony is each of these have happened (and more) throughout my career. They don’t apply to a particular situation necessarily, but they are all true … unfortunately. Embarrassingly so.
They are written here as an antidote for poor leadership. A self aware manager or leader will see elements of themselves to varying degrees in what follows.
Basically, do the opposite.

As a leader, your people are under your care. The decisions you make directly affect them.
Therefore, leaders need to be vary careful about decisions they make when it comes to personnel. One misstep, and the years spent building a high performing team can crumble, literally, right before your eyes.
But perhaps that is what a leader wants. Maybe they are not happy with having a team that produces and delivers results under pressure. It takes all sorts!
