If you want to, you need to…
“Truth or Dare?”
“Truth”
“OK! What is the one thing, the ONE thing, you really want to do but haven’t started or, have started and stopped multiple times?”
I’ll give a you a minute to write it down before reading on.
No really! Stop, grab a pen, and write it down. No reading until you’ve done your homework! I’ve even put a spacer in for you!
Ok! Got it? Good, now we can continue.
The most effective way to do it, is to do it!
- Amelia Earhart
Why do we have these dreams and goals we never start, or start and then stop?
So, to leverage Amelia’s counsel, that thing you wrote down, you just have to do it. Will it be good first off? Probably not! Will you learn something? Hell, yeah!
Will you improve! Absolutely!
If you want an occasional check in, write down what your thing is in the comments. I’ll touch base with you if you like. Kind of like an accountability coach to help you keep going!
Here’s a list I thought of to get you started.
If you want to be a better:
- coach? Coach.
- writer? Write.
- writer? Read. 😉
- runner? Run.
- seamstress? Sew.
- blogger? Blog.
- creator? Create.
And on we go.
This zen-like advice came to me at my first golf lesson many years ago.
My coach asked me how had I been learning?
“Books and videos,” I responded.
“All well and good,” he said, “But at some stage you’re gonna need to hit the ball!”
What are you wanting to achieve or be better at? What is that ONE thing you wrote down?
How are you going? It took me a while (2 years?) to start my podcast. It’s a work in progress but it is in progress. I stopped talking about it and, thanks to my friend Scott, we’re two episodes in!
(My daughter will occasionally ask me about how my touch typing is going. (Cough! 🙄))
