Learning to Live Without Alcohol … Again!

My latest visit to the Doctor was not … ideal!

Remember the days when you'd go to the doctor with a niggle and he or she would tell you it was all in your head and to stop wasting their time?

Yeah, so those days are over!

It now seems to be the complete opposite. I go in for a regular checkup, feeling fine and I come out with multiple prescriptions! WTF?

As I get older, my body is taking longer to deal with excess sugar. Where it might have been high for a day, it’d quickly come down to the right levels. I had a spreadsheet where I’d track everything just to get the dopamine hit each morning!

I stopped using the spreadsheet when the numbers didn’t drop as quickly as I’d like.

My doctor asked: “If I was the Pope and you were the Confessor, talk to me about your diet!”

I like good food, okay! What can I say? I also like alcohol: beer, wine, scotch. I’m not that fussy. And I genuinely like the taste. It’s not to get blind drunk and cry away my troubles.

But blood tests are blood tests and it way past time to take this a little more seriously.

This is a restart of getting off the alcohol. I know I’ll at least save money!
