Management is a game!

It has rules, it has players, you keep score.

You can win. You can lose.

You can be transferred out and you can be transferred in.

The Problem

The problem is you think management is a higher level of the game that you’ve always been playing.

You think Management is like gaming where there are different levels. Where you start at Level Zero, and work your way up the ladder. From Level 1 to Level 2. Management becomes Level 50 and Senior Management and Executives are even higher Levels.

Forget all that!

Management is a different game altogether.

Imagine you’ve been playing your favourite game your whole life. Now you are promoted to management. You get your gear on, walk out on to the “field” and you find you’re on a different field.

That’s what has happened!

The Purpose of Management

When you’re a manager, you are no longer the one who does the work. You are now a coordinator of that work. Your role is to ensure everyone in the team plays their part.
