Nil-by-Alcohol — Day 3

This is a short post on my “no alcohol” progress.

Firstly, I feel quite refreshed. I’m only drinking water and carbonated water (Sodastream). Weight is a bit up and down, but generally down.

In the post below, I mentioned some crucial times I needed to navigate. The after work stage. The watching TV stage. Being bloody hot here in Australia stage (41C/106F ) and craving an ice cold beer stage! (or is that a nice cold beer?)

So far so good.

But also … it’s only day 3.

The interesting thing (to me) is that on night two, I couldn’t get to sleep. Normally, I crash with five minutes. I was still clock watching at 1:30AM. Four and a half hours after I went to bed!

This happened on the last journey into Nil-by-Alcohol! Going to bed and not being able to sleep. I wonder if it’s a recurring problem. I may be able to survive a night or two but, dear god, I love my sleep!

I wonder if this is a common thing when you give up alcohol? Does everyone experience this to some…
