“Dammit, Bill, why do you always do that? Every. Single. Time!”

I’m constantly finding fault with myself. I’m my biggest critic!

  • I should have been on time!
  • I should be better than that!
  • I shouldn’t let my co-worker/boss/spouse/kids trigger me.
  • I should have known that.

And on and on!

But I’ve begun to do something that immediately changes the narrative. Like, I mean… immediately!

Let’s face it, we’re always going to find ourselves in situations where things don’t go as expected (First Mistake!).

Then we blame ourselves and start piling on with all the negative comments and self loathing.

First Mistake

The first mistake is our own expectations. We expect too much, perhaps an ideal outcome, and then when we don’t reach it, boom, away we go, giving ourselves all sorts of sh*t!

We’re not Nostradamus! We can’t predict the future!

Second Mistake

We use the word “should” way too much! (See Intro)
