The ABC of BJW
Apparently this is a thing. Here we go!
I find About Me pages of others quite interesting. Especially those who have put real effort into it. I always think I’m just not that interesting and that I have to make it interesting. Which can lead to some extensions of the truth.
So an ABC might be of some use if I stick to the facts.
Some have not got some obvious fact related to it yet, so are termed Under Construction. Half way there (13) as of 9 August 2023.
A — Albany, the first settlement in Western Australia, where the ships left for Anzac Cove during World War 1 and where I was born and raised.
B — Bill. What I am called, but my full first name is William. It seems logical to me but some don’t get it. How does William shorten to Bill and not Will?
C — I am definitely a dog person now, but my first pet was a CAT. He was a ginger cat called … Ginger! I know! My creativity started early! 😻
D — Yes I’m a DOG person now. Quelle surprise if you read “C”. We’ve had a corgi, a golden retriever, a German Shepherd and, until recently, a greyhound. 💔
E — I am definitely an Early riser. I never used to be. Getting up around 5am every day for my morning coffee and starting my day. Weirdly and unfortunately, this happens on weekends as well … when I could sleep in.
F — I love Faciliting workshops. Where some people would rather be in the grave than giving the eulogy (Seinfeld joke) I am quite happy to be delivering the speech, running the workshop etc.
G — Greyhounds. I will literally stop the car if I see a greyhound and go and pat them (I ask first the owner, of course). I always get to know the greyhound’s name, rarely the owner’s. 🤷♂️
H — Happier when I am busy. Sounds like a cliche and don’t get me wrong, I do like reading, watching TV or You Tube, I’m just not happier then. 😀
I — Definitely an Introvert! While I love facilitating, I also love quiet time. As I read recently, an Introvert may be quiet on the outside but, more often than not, it’s a freeway on the inside! Describes me to a T.
J — James-Wallace, my surname, is not the combination of my wife’s and my name. Its origins date back to the 1400’s in Wexford, Ireland

S — Grew up loving Science Fiction and mostly Isaac Asimov. The link shows the first book I got. From a second-hand bookstore. Wrote to the Good Doctor when I was about 10. He wrote back! No idea why I didn’t keep that! 😞
T — A Typewriter would be my first tech “gadget”. An electric Brother that cost $325. Stolen after a house break in! Never got another one. I “graduated” to an Amstrad computer with a … wait for it … 20MB hard drive! That cost $2,650! (don’t ask me how I remember these numbers from over 30 years ago! 🙄)

W — I have always wanted to write. I was about 8 when I was allowed to use my mum’s typewriter. Always could type up a page but rarely any longer.
