Weekly Challenge C01E01 — Meat and Eggs
As well as a few push ups!
I wrote yesterday of the plan to undertake some weekly challenges. The first being meat and eggs for a week and 50 deficit push ups per day. (Water included, no alcohol!)
Today is the day: Challenge 1, Episode 1
My main outcome was simply discovery. Discovery of what I would learn about these processes and what I would learn about myself.
But some other outcomes have become apparent that I thought would be worth mentioning. These may add some further context which may be of interest.
You see, I’ve hit the co-morbidities jackpot!
- I have FH (Familial hypercholesterolemia) — basically high cholesterol, heart disease. (Thanks Mum!) ❤️
- I have Type 2 Diabetes (Thanks Dad!) 🍩
- I have Sleep Apnea! 🥱
None of these are “visible” issues, so they can tend to be ignored or forgotten. Until they really hit you! (More on that in another article — just think … heart surgery.)
Each of these can kill you and make life severely less enjoyable and, in the case ofType 2 Diabetes, maimed. These are serious issues.
The challenges I’m undertaking will have an affect on those issues, and hopefully they are positive.
The Stats
With that brief background here are some starting stats as I go off to get some breakfast! (Bacon and eggs, if you’re following along at home.)
- Blood sugars this morning: 8.5 mmol (High) — yesterday’s diet was a last hurrah before this week’s challenge so not unexpected.
- Sleep last night: 6h 20m (46/100, Poor: Garmin Fenix 6 Pro)
- Weight: 86.2kg (Height: 178cm)
Why Share Personal Information Online?
Purely to be transparent and offer help and support to others who may be in similar situations. If you are in a similar situation and want to join in on a challenge or course of action you are taking (if you feel comfortable) feel free to join in.
I’ll share what may work for me, or not. I don’t know how a week on meat and eggs will fare and whether it is long enough to get a sense of benefit.
I guess I’ll find out. See you in a couple of days! (I’ll still write on other topics, but the weekly challenge updates will be be every other day!)
Thank you for reading! 😊
My purpose in writing on Medium:
- Personal Development — writing helps me articulate my own thinking. I find trying to create an “argument” for a perspective on paper, quite revealing and at times challenging and I can be more critical of my own thoughts. I frequently find myself thinking: “Why DO I think this?”
- Developing Others — to help people make better choices by helping them think critically and realise their potential. We are often blinded by beliefs and thinking given to us by others.
